Knowing What You Want Without Being a Prisoner

"Freedom and power come from knowing what you want without being a prisoner to what you want." ~Joe Vitale

When you know what you want out of life, it sure makes it easier to get it! But many people don't really know what they want or what will really make them happy. I had a client who was driven to rise to the top of his career field and make a lot of money. He worked all the time, which left very little time for his personal life. His first marriage had ended several years ago and while he called his kids several times a week, he rarely saw them. He had almost no personal life outside of his business and was lonely and frustrated with trying to find a woman to love. As a result, he felt powerless over his situation. His calendar seemed to run his life and set his priorities for him. He came to me in total frustration wanting to know how he could get what he wanted.

Though our coaching calls, he gradually began to see how fear of failing and not having a large enough retirement fund was running his life and robbing him of the pleasure he could have now! In other words, he had become a prisoner to what he wanted and it had kept him away from fulfillment in other areas of his life.

The first thing I did was assign him the "Wheel of Life" exercise. Through this simple exercise he was able to see clearly how out of balance his life had become and how he was completely ignoring areas of his life that could bring him a great deal of satisfaction. We then set priorities and goals, and small action steps to help him begin to take charge of his life again. Over time he was able to experience the freedom and power of moving forward on the things that were important to him, without being a prisoner of what he wanted.

That's what coaching can do. It is the fastest, most effective way to make significant changes in a relatively short period of time.

Are you living OUTRAGEOUSLY? If you are not living the life of your dreams, call me. I'll help you get on the road to doing just that!
