DISH Network HDTV Guide - Information on Programming and Prices

HD (high definition) TV has become all the rage in recent years. Here's a DISH Network HDTV guide, that includes information about DISH Network HDTV features, programming packages, and service fees.

DISH Network HDTV

HDTV is a broadcast medium whereby programs are transmitted in a digital format. HD broadcasting utilizes 1,125 lines of resolution, as opposed to only 525 lines of resolution regular analog broadcasts use. The more lines of resolution the sharper and clearer the picture.

The audio portion of the broadcast signal is also transmitted in digital format so you get a richer, more realistic sound.

DISH Network HDTV features

Lifelike picture

DISH Network HDTV programs are five times sharper than programs broadcast in analog format. HDTV is clearer and the color is more vibrant than analog TV.

Surround-sound audio

DISH Network HDTV is broadcast in Dolby Digital format for the best sound available, and many programs are broadcast in surround sound for a three-dimensional listening experience.

Widescreen format

DISH Network HDTV programs are broadcast in widescreen format, similar to what you see in a movie theater. This wider format - a 16:9 aspect ratio as opposed to a 4:3 standard ratio - lets you see more of the picture and makes you feel like you're part of the scene.

DISH Network equipment

DISH Network will give you up to two free HDTV receivers when you subscribe to their programming service. They will also give you the rest of the satellite TV equipment you need for free.

Note: You must have an HD television to view HD programming.

DISH Network HDTV packages

Currently DISH Network offers four HD programming packages:

* The Bronze package includes 25 HD channels and 75 regular satellite TV channels for $29.99 per month.
* The Silver packages has 25 HD channels and 230 regular satellite TV channels, including 60 Sirius satellite radio channels, for $29.99 per month for the first 10 months then $39.99 thereafter.
* The Gold package has 25 HD channels and 318 regular satellite TV channels, including 60 Sirius satellite radio channels, for $39.99 per month.
